Clearly artistic – Balinese style

Bali is the home of many traditional handcrafts and arts. It is part of Balinese culture to honor good craftsmanship and so it is little wonder that this small, beautiful island produces so many high-quality works of art. Glasswork is relative newcomer to Bali. The art glass industry is concentrated around Ubud in Gianyar Regency. Factories are often simple structures in small towns and surrounded by domestic compounds, run by the families living there. They use a variety of techniques, including melting recycled glass into press forms and painting and then firing glazes on the outside of glass objects.
